30 Years of Pokémon. 30 years of collecting, trading, and playing—and that very special thrill when you open a booster pack.

For some of us, it all started with a Game Boy and the choice between Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. Others didn’t enter the world of Pokémon until much later. Now, parents are playing with their children, veteran Trainers are returning, and new ones are just beginning their very own journeys.

And that’s exactly what we want to celebrate with the Pokémon 30th Anniversary Collection.

Booster bundles, Top Trainer boxes, collections, tins, blister packs, and plenty of opportunities to use the phrase:

“Okay. I’ll open one more booster pack.”

Unfortunately, demand for this edition has now reached such proportions that even Team Rocket would probably drop their Poké Ball for a moment and say, “This is just too wild for us.”

That’s why we do things a little differently at Merchfox.

Why do we actually do all this?

Because Pokémon is important to us.

And by that, we don’t just mean the products on the shelf.

Every week, we have kids here playing their first cards. Adults getting back into the game after years away. Collectors delighted by a beautiful illustration. Players discussing deck lists. People opening boosters, trading, laughing—and then, of course, insisting that the next booster will really be their last.

That’s what Pokémon means to us.

And that is exactly why we want to keep as much of this edition available as possible.

Open translation expressly requested

All products in the Pokémon 30th Anniversary Collection will be opened immediately upon purchase.

We also make diagonal cuts in the booster packs included. Don't worry—the cards won't be damaged in the process, of course.

You can open, collect, trade, and play with them just like usual.

However, the following no longer works:

Take the product, still in its original packaging, to the nearest online marketplace and resell it there at a healthy markup.

Sorry, Team Rocket.

We’d rather see our Pokémon products in the hands of people who, when opening a special card, briefly feel like they’re twelve years old again, than on a sales platform five minutes later.

And what happens to the money?

You might also find it important to know: The revenue you generate on Merchfox flows back into Merchfox.

In our store. In our employees. In more and better products. In our gaming area and its amenities. In events, Organized Play, and all the things we make possible for our players and community.

We want to continue developing Merchfox step by step and create a place where people don’t just pick up Pokémon products from a shelf and leave, but where they can play, trade, meet other Trainers, and be part of a community.

So when you buy a Tin, a Top Trainer Box, or a Booster Bundle from us, you’re not just funding some anonymous online marketplace—you’re helping to further build the very place where you can then open and play your cards together.

And why are some prices higher than the MSRP?

We would also like to state this clearly.

We’re already facing higher purchase costs for some of the products in this edition. The much bigger factor, however, is something you can’t tell just by looking at a booster bundle from the outside:

the enormous amount of work involved.

Weeks before the actual release, the phone calls, emails, and messages start coming in:

When will it be available? Do you have any in stock yet? Can I reserve one? Can I pre-order? Will you set one aside for me? How many are you getting? How much does it cost? Can my brother get one, too? And my grandma? And my neighbor? And his Pikachu?

Okay. Pikachu hasn't called yet.

So far.

During the release, it will be a topic of discussion once again—and even weeks afterward, such an edition will continue to occupy our attention.

We’re organizing quantities, limits, customer accounts, community guidelines, and fair distribution on-site. At the same time, Merchfox continues to run as usual: packages need to be packed, new products added, shelves stocked, customers advised, and about three thousand other things taken care of.

With Pokémon releases like these, however, the organization alone takes up so much time that we sometimes barely have time for our normal day-to-day business.

And unfortunately, this labor time is just as much a part of the calculation as our purchase price.

30 Years of Pokémon—and That’s What It’s All About

We know that not everyone will love our rules or prices. That’s okay.

We’d much rather see someone sitting here on Saturday who enthusiastically tears open their booster pack, immediately shows the card they drew to the person next to them, and is already in the middle of trading five minutes later.

We want our regular customers to get something. We want our players to get something. We want children to get something. We want collectors to get something.

And that 30 years of Pokémon here won't just turn into yet another completely over-the-top product release.

So come on over. Pick out your products. Sit down together. Open your boosters. Trade cards. Play a round. Celebrate your pulls and suffer together when Arceus has once again decided that, apparently, someone else gets to be lucky today.

Pokémon has been a part of many of our lives for quite a long time.

Thirty years later, we may have grown—and our collections definitely have—but that feeling when you open a booster pack? Fortunately, it’s still the same.
