Our comics, manga, and books are standard retail items and—unless otherwise expressly stated for a specific item—are not sold as flawless collector’s items or graded copies.
All items from our online store are also part of our in-store selection. They are typically displayed unboxed on the shelves so that our customers can view and browse through them. If there are multiple copies of a title available, some of them may still be in their original packaging or shrink-wrapped.
Comics and books, in particular, sometimes arrive with minor signs of wear resulting from production, shipping, or storage—such as fine scratches, creases, or slight visual imperfections. Unfortunately, we have no control over this. Over time, additional minor wear may also occur due to display in the store.
If you place particular importance on the item being in the best possible condition or in its original packaging, please contact us before placing your order. We’ll be happy to take a closer look at the item you’re interested in and can send you photos in advance if needed.
Of course, statutory warranty rights remain unaffected by this.
Jake Hyde lives with his mother in a small town in the New Mexico desert. Although he can’t swim, he longs for the ocean, to which he feels a magical attraction.
And Jake has another longing: He finds himself increasingly drawn to Kenny Liu, a boy on his school’s swim team who is completely open about his homosexuality. Slowly but surely, Jake has to admit to himself that he, too, is gay. But how would the people around him react, especially since his classmates already make fun of the self-assured Kenny because of his sexual orientation? How would his mother handle it—she worries too much as it is? And what would Maria say, Jake’s best friend, who’s even willing to follow him to the University of Miami, far away from her beloved family?
As he searches for himself, Jake awakens to completely unusual powers and learns more about the true reasons behind his longing for the sea and the strange marks on his skin that begin to glow when they come into contact with water. Ultimately, he must decide whether to go with the flow or dive headfirst into adventure.
A gripping coming-out story about self-determination and the courage to be true to oneself, written by award-winning author Alex Sanchez and illustrated by French comic artist Julie Maroh, who became world-famous for her graphic novel *Blue Is the Warmest Color*, which was successfully adapted into a film.
Recommended for ages 13 and up.
