Our comics, manga, and books are standard retail items and—unless otherwise expressly stated for a specific item—are not sold as flawless collector’s items or graded copies.
All items from our online store are also part of our in-store selection. They are typically displayed unboxed on the shelves so that our customers can view and browse through them. If there are multiple copies of a title available, some of them may still be in their original packaging or shrink-wrapped.
Comics and books, in particular, sometimes arrive with minor signs of wear resulting from production, shipping, or storage—such as fine scratches, creases, or slight visual imperfections. Unfortunately, we have no control over this. Over time, additional minor wear may also occur due to display in the store.
If you place particular importance on the item being in the best possible condition or in its original packaging, please contact us before placing your order. We’ll be happy to take a closer look at the item you’re interested in and can send you photos in advance if needed.
Of course, statutory warranty rights remain unaffected by this.
A DEVASTATING BLOW OF FATE AND A DARK SECRET!
When the young hacker Barbara Gordon taps into the police radio and tracks down a couple of criminals, she is shot: The bullet damages her spinal cord, and she has been paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair ever since.
For Barbara, who used to be fun-loving and athletic, this is a situation that neither she nor her father—the police commissioner of Gotham—can come to terms with. Barbara is angry, frustrated, and her self-confidence is shattered. She shuts herself off from the outside world. But when mysterious events begin to unfold at the Arkham Center, where she is staying for rehabilitation, she is forced to rise above herself and come to terms with her physical disability. For at night, strange noises can be heard, and patients disappear without a trace. Barbara begins to piece together these clues like parts of a giant puzzle and thus uncovers a dark secret.
A sensitive, powerful, and gripping graphic novel written by the acclaimed Dutch young adult author Marieke Nijkamp (“Only in the Darkness Do the Stars Shine”) and illustrated with equal sensitivity by top artist Manuel Preitano. A comic for young readers that inspires courage!
This is a self-contained story that’s also perfect for newcomers to the world of comics and superheroes.
