A colony of mice in an abandoned house is desperately struggling to survive a harsh, unpredictable winter. All humans seem to have disappeared, and even the sun rarely graces this world anymore.
But then food becomes increasingly scarce, and many mice fall ill: the little raiders are forced to venture farther and farther from home and scour a land plagued by monstrous beasts to find even the tiniest bit of food that might grant the colony just one more day of respite.
While the young Pict and her father Orim try to keep the colony from descending into chaos, little Wix and his rat friend Umf set out on yet another foraging expedition in search of food. Being chased by wild cats and birds of prey is just part of life for the mice—but something far more terrifying lurks behind the fences...
