Who is Anakin Skywalker?

Conceived by the Force and born to Shmi Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker entered the galaxy as a slave on the desert planet Tatooine. Until the age of nine, he lived in bondage—until he was discovered and freed by Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi who would become both his mentor and eventual brother in arms.

Despite his early promise and strength in the Force, Anakin’s life was marked by intense emotion and tragic loss. These experiences fueled a growing inner turmoil, which ultimately led him to the Dark Side. Under the influence of the malevolent Darth Sidious, he shed his identity as a Jedi and became Darth Vader, the most feared figure in the galaxy.

Even as Vader, a glimmer of light remained within him—a remnant of the man he once was.

Anakin’s Return in Ahsoka

Portrayed by Hayden Christensen in the prequel trilogy, Anakin makes a powerful return in the Ahsoka series, a Star Wars spin-off on Disney+. In this emotional storyline, he reunites with his former apprentice, Ahsoka Tano, originally created for The Clone Wars animated series and portrayed in live-action by Rosario Dawson.

Their meeting takes place in the mystical World Between Worlds—a surreal plane within the Force, filled with pathways that connect all points in time and space. Anakin, unaware of the battle that preceded their encounter, finds himself once again alongside his Padawan, now grown and hardened by her own trials. Set on a battlefield shrouded in mist, the statue captures a hauntingly powerful moment: Anakin, now in spirit form, stands amidst the wreckage of war. His presence echoes the infamous Siege of Mandalore, where the 501st Legion attempted to capture the renegade Sith Darth Maul.
