Our comics, manga, and books are standard retail items and—unless otherwise expressly stated for a specific item—are not sold as flawless collector’s items or graded copies.
All items from our online store are also part of our in-store selection. They are typically displayed unboxed on the shelves so that our customers can view and browse through them. If there are multiple copies of a title available, some of them may still be in their original packaging or shrink-wrapped.
Comics and books, in particular, sometimes arrive with minor signs of wear resulting from production, shipping, or storage—such as fine scratches, creases, or slight visual imperfections. Unfortunately, we have no control over this. Over time, additional minor wear may also occur due to display in the store.
If you place particular importance on the item being in the best possible condition or in its original packaging, please contact us before placing your order. We’ll be happy to take a closer look at the item you’re interested in and can send you photos in advance if needed.
Of course, statutory warranty rights remain unaffected by this.
9,603 kilometers. That is the distance 12-year-old Adil and his 14-year-old cousin Shafi will have to travel to get from Afghanistan to England.
Despite the attacks that all too often disrupt the lives of the residents, the two try to enjoy a relatively happy childhood in Khost, a province in southeastern Afghanistan—until the day Adil’s father dies of heart failure. The resulting chain of events will drastically change both of their lives. Adil must decide whether to escape a life that has been forced upon him or to face death in the service of a form of fundamentalism he does not share.
He and his cousin leave their homeland behind, and Daoud soon joins them. It’s a tough journey for the three of them: smugglers, transit camps, and a knot of fear in their stomachs as their constant companion. But it’s also a journey marked by friendship, solidarity, and unshakable optimism.
Through the words of Stéphane Marchetti—drawn from in-depth research and conversations with children who have endured this odyssey—and the illustrations by Cyrille Pomès, *9603 KILOMETER: TWO CHILDREN ON THE RUN, a poignant portrait of people who, in search of a fresh start, must leave everything they have behind.
