Our comics, manga, and books are standard retail items and—unless otherwise expressly stated for a specific item—are not sold as flawless collector’s items or graded copies.
All items from our online store are also part of our in-store selection. They are typically displayed unboxed on the shelves so that our customers can view and browse through them. If there are multiple copies of a title available, some of them may still be in their original packaging or shrink-wrapped.
Comics and books, in particular, sometimes arrive with minor signs of wear resulting from production, shipping, or storage—such as fine scratches, creases, or slight visual imperfections. Unfortunately, we have no control over this. Over time, additional minor wear may also occur due to display in the store.
If you place particular importance on the item being in the best possible condition or in its original packaging, please contact us before placing your order. We’ll be happy to take a closer look at the item you’re interested in and can send you photos in advance if needed.
Of course, statutory warranty rights remain unaffected by this.
A house full of art forgeries, one genuine painting, and a family history in which, apparently, no one is quite who they seem to be.
Detective Jin Saeki and Kanon barely escaped with their lives in Kurazuchi. Their attacker bore the same distinctive facial scars as Shuji Inuyama, who murdered 33 people decades earlier.
But instead of answers, the two find the next mystery in the Inuyama family’s house: countless paintings by the mysterious art forger Fuyo Yotsuba.
What do these paintings have to do with Juzo Haikawa and the gruesome events at the mansion?
A surprising lead points to Takeru Kamishiro, one of Haikawa’s foster children, who is in prison for art fraud. He reveals a crucial detail: the painting “Saturn Devouring His Son,” which hung in the Haikawa house, is not a forgery.
It was painted by Juzo’s biological son.
Suddenly, the question of Haikawa’s family takes on a whole new meaning. When an art dealer finally reveals who hung the disturbing painting in the mansion, the opaque web of lies and secrets seems to slowly unravel.
But then the situation escalates once again.
Jin’s brother Sosuke is kidnapped.
With that, the case is no longer just a professional matter. The danger has reached Jin’s own family.
*A Suffocatingly Lonely Death*, Volume 5, combines a dark crime thriller with unsettling family secrets, art forgeries, and an increasingly menacing search for the truth.
Amid all the forged paintings, a genuine one—of all things—might provide the crucial clue. It’s just too bad that the perpetrator apparently has little interest in putting his family history on public display.
