Our comics, manga, and books are standard retail items and—unless otherwise expressly stated for a specific item—are not sold as flawless collector’s items or graded copies.
All items from our online store are also part of our in-store selection. They are typically displayed unboxed on the shelves so that our customers can view and browse through them. If there are multiple copies of a title available, some of them may still be in their original packaging or shrink-wrapped.
Comics and books, in particular, sometimes arrive with minor signs of wear resulting from production, shipping, or storage—such as fine scratches, creases, or slight visual imperfections. Unfortunately, we have no control over this. Over time, additional minor wear may also occur due to display in the store.
If you place particular importance on the item being in the best possible condition or in its original packaging, please contact us before placing your order. We’ll be happy to take a closer look at the item you’re interested in and can send you photos in advance if needed.
Of course, statutory warranty rights remain unaffected by this.
The Concept
“Captain Austria” is not a parody. It’s really about creating a genuine superhero universe centered on beings with superpowers. The only difference is that, for a change, they inhabit not the canyons of Manhattan but the squares and alleys of Vienna or Salzburg. While humor certainly has its place, so do action and personal dramas with psychological depth. Just as superhero stories—whether in comics or in the movies—simply are.
The Beginning
As a first step in the development of the A.S.H. universe, a four-part comic book series (36 pages each) will be released; in Austria, it will be sold in tobacco shops and at newsstands as usual, while in Germany and Switzerland, it will be available primarily in comic book stores.
The first issue is scheduled to be published in late March 2016. Subsequent issues will then be published every two months.
The Story
“Europe 2016. Since the end of the Cold War, the superheroes and superhero teams deployed by the major powers have also retired. The major conflicts are history. Only in isolated cases do old and new vigilantes still fight against ordinary criminals or even terrorists.”
All of that suddenly changes when a series of brutal attacks with clearly superhuman origins takes place in Vienna! "The young Captain Austria, who until now has treated his superhero duties more as a hobby, faces the task of recruiting old and new allies to put an end to the terror …"
