While Doctor Doom expands his iron-fisted rule over the world and reshapes the global balance of power to suit his will, the next threat is already brewing far beyond Earth. At the Avengers’ headquarters in orbit, the brilliant but equally ruthless Mad Thinker is secretly working on his own plans—and arming himself with dangerous technologies whose true objectives remain a mystery.
But the situation on Earth is also coming to a dramatic head. A chaotic conflict is unfolding in California: a full-scale war among the Ultrons has broken out. Several variants of the notorious artificial intelligence are clashing, and the situation threatens to spiral completely out of control.
In the midst of this technological nightmare stand Iron Man and the West Coast Avengers, who are trying to prevent the worst from happening. But fighting an army of self-aware machines and an escalating AI battle demands everything the heroes have to give. As sparks fly everywhere and the future hangs in the balance, it quickly becomes clear: this conflict could destroy far more than just one city.
