Our comics, manga, and books are standard retail items and—unless otherwise expressly stated for a specific item—are not sold as flawless collector’s items or graded copies.
All items from our online store are also part of our in-store selection. They are typically displayed unboxed on the shelves so that our customers can view and browse through them. If there are multiple copies of a title available, some of them may still be in their original packaging or shrink-wrapped.
Comics and books, in particular, sometimes arrive with minor signs of wear resulting from production, shipping, or storage—such as fine scratches, creases, or slight visual imperfections. Unfortunately, we have no control over this. Over time, additional minor wear may also occur due to display in the store.
If you place particular importance on the item being in the best possible condition or in its original packaging, please contact us before placing your order. We’ll be happy to take a closer look at the item you’re interested in and can send you photos in advance if needed.
Of course, statutory warranty rights remain unaffected by this.
The devil will recognize his own …
This “Best of” collection opens with the story “Devil Child.” Artist Tim Sale, colorist Teddy Kristiansen, and longtime GRENDEL editor Diana Schutz set out to trace the footsteps of Stacy Palumbo, the adopted daughter of Hunter Rose and heiress to Grendel.
Author Darko Macan and the late illustrator Edvin Biukovic carry on this legacy into a dystopian future, showing how their characters strive to preserve their humanity amid the madness of war.
In “Devils and Deaths,” the Grendel warrior Drago seeks an honorable death in single combat against a monster that appears on the outskirts of a post-apocalyptic settlement. The sequel, “Devil’s Choices,” follows the rise of Drago’s brother Goran to become the most skilled warrior of the Agram clan.
The grand finale is “Homecoming” by Pat McEown and Dave Cooper. When Susan Veraghen resigns from the Grendel Guard and returns home, she receives anything but a warm welcome. Her hometown is under the influence of a euphoric drug and a criminal gang. But Susan bears the mark of the devil, and when the members of Orion’s Bastards take away the only thing she loves, she unleashes hell on those bastards.
In our specially curated BEST-OF-GRENDEL volumes, Matt Wagner’s roguish legacy is celebrated in style.
