Our comics, manga, and books are standard retail items and—unless otherwise expressly stated for a specific item—are not sold as flawless collector’s items or graded copies.
All items from our online store are also part of our in-store selection. They are typically displayed unboxed on the shelves so that our customers can view and browse through them. If there are multiple copies of a title available, some of them may still be in their original packaging or shrink-wrapped.
Comics and books, in particular, sometimes arrive with minor signs of wear resulting from production, shipping, or storage—such as fine scratches, creases, or slight visual imperfections. Unfortunately, we have no control over this. Over time, additional minor wear may also occur due to display in the store.
If you place particular importance on the item being in the best possible condition or in its original packaging, please contact us before placing your order. We’ll be happy to take a closer look at the item you’re interested in and can send you photos in advance if needed.
Of course, statutory warranty rights remain unaffected by this.
The mythical city of Kompiam is home to numerous intelligent species, each more fantastic than the last. Nuwan, a human boy, is a simple apprentice cook in the household of a great magician and, with the help of the beautiful Lerëh—with whom he may be a little bit in love—is trying to finally learn to read. However, one of his secret excursions to the magician’s library goes terribly wrong when Nuwan tries to read the grimoire Danthrakon. The magic of the tome transfers to him, leaving the pages blank. From then on, Nuwan desperately tries to hide the fact that his blood and tears have suddenly turned ink-black, for a terrifying inquisitor is on the hunt for the culprit. And who knows what other effects this ancient magic will have?
“An uncultured kitchen boy is devoured by a book”—that is the starting point for “Danthrakon,” the latest stroke of genius from Christophe Arleston (“Ekhö,” “Lanfeust,” “The Shipwrecked of Ythaq”). France’s most successful comic book author takes his readers into a world full of wonders, where a simple idea can give rise to something fantastic.
