Our comics, manga, and books are standard retail items and—unless otherwise expressly stated for a specific item—are not sold as flawless collector’s items or graded copies.
All items from our online store are also part of our in-store selection. They are typically displayed unboxed on the shelves so that our customers can view and browse through them. If there are multiple copies of a title available, some of them may still be in their original packaging or shrink-wrapped.
Comics and books, in particular, sometimes arrive with minor signs of wear resulting from production, shipping, or storage—such as fine scratches, creases, or slight visual imperfections. Unfortunately, we have no control over this. Over time, additional minor wear may also occur due to display in the store.
If you place particular importance on the item being in the best possible condition or in its original packaging, please contact us before placing your order. We’ll be happy to take a closer look at the item you’re interested in and can send you photos in advance if needed.
Of course, statutory warranty rights remain unaffected by this.
Does life perhaps have a gentle cycle, too?
Marjorie Glatt’s life hasn’t been the same since she discovered a group of ghosts hiding in her family’s laundromat. Wendell, who died young and now wanders the earth as a ghost with nothing but a sheet for a body, soon became one of Marjorie’s only friends. But when Marjorie is finally accepted by the popular kids at school, she begins to worry that she might be labeled a freak who sees dead people if anyone finds out about her secret ghost friends. As Marjorie insists on keeping Wendell’s identity as a ghost a secret from her new friends, Wendell begins to feel even more invisible than he already is. Eliza Duncan feels invisible, too. She’s an avid photographer, and her keen interest in finding and photographing ghosts leads the other kids at school to label her as “different.” Because she constantly feels like an outsider, Eliza begins to feel like a ghost herself. Marjorie soon has to come to terms with the price it takes to be accepted by the popular kids. Is it worth losing her friend Wendell? Is she also to blame for the bullying Eliza is facing?
DELICATES tells a powerful story about what it means to belong—and about those who always seem to be left out. Artist Brenna Thummler brings to life what it’s like to feel invisible—and, conversely, how important it is to feel seen. Above all, however, it is a story about how to ask for help when everything seems shrouded in darkness—how to bring help and light to those who need it most.
