Our comics, manga, and books are standard retail items and—unless otherwise expressly stated for a specific item—are not sold as flawless collector’s items or graded copies.
All items from our online store are also part of our in-store selection. They are typically displayed unboxed on the shelves so that our customers can view and browse through them. If there are multiple copies of a title available, some of them may still be in their original packaging or shrink-wrapped.
Comics and books, in particular, sometimes arrive with minor signs of wear resulting from production, shipping, or storage—such as fine scratches, creases, or slight visual imperfections. Unfortunately, we have no control over this. Over time, additional minor wear may also occur due to display in the store.
If you place particular importance on the item being in the best possible condition or in its original packaging, please contact us before placing your order. We’ll be happy to take a closer look at the item you’re interested in and can send you photos in advance if needed.
Of course, statutory warranty rights remain unaffected by this.
A powerful fox spirit, a little tanuki, and a divine punishment that sounds suspiciously like babysitting. Welcome to the enchanting world of Japanese myths!
Senzou is a fox spirit with immense magical powers. Unfortunately, he hasn’t always used them for particularly good purposes.
And eventually, even the gods have had enough.
When Senzou goes way overboard yet again, the sun goddess Amaterasu intervenes personally and hands him a punishment he probably never would have expected.
He’s supposed to look after the little tanuki Manpachi!
Of all people, Senzou—the powerful and anything but affable fox spirit—becomes the reluctant babysitter of a cheerful little raccoon dog.
As expected, his enthusiasm is limited.
But Manpachi isn’t fazed by Senzou’s bad mood. With his carefree, endearing nature, he achieves something that probably surprises even the gods: he slowly melts the grumpy fox spirit’s heart.
And so begins a very special adventure for this unusual duo.
On behalf of the wolves who serve the sun goddess, Senzou and Manpachi take on various tasks and encounter the fascinating creatures of Japanese mythology along the way.
*The Fox and the Little Tanuki*, Volume 1 by Mi Tagawa, combines a heartwarming story about friendship, trust, and solidarity with the mysterious world of the bakemono—Japanese spirits and mythical creatures.
Lovely illustrations, humorous encounters, and two wonderfully different main characters make this fantasy manga an enchanting read for manga fans of all ages.
The series is complete in seven volumes and is suitable for readers ages 8 and up.
Senzou just wanted some peace and quiet, while Manpachi would love nothing more than to explore the whole world.
Too bad for the fox spirit. Wonderful for us!
A heartwarming manga adventure for everyone who loves foxes, cute animal creatures, Japanese mythology, and unusual friendships.
And who knows? Maybe a little tanuki is exactly what even a pretty big fox needs sometimes.
