What happens when you unleash the world’s most famous movie monster on Marvel’s most powerful superheroes? That’s right: The insurance company will probably cancel the policy at the very first roar! The legendary Godzilla stomps into the Marvel Universe, bringing with him plenty of destruction, radioactive breath, and a decidedly bad mood. In six spectacular crossover stories, the King of the Monsters goes head-to-head with some of the most famous heroes in comic book history. Kicking things off are the Fantastic Four, among others, who discover that even four superpowers aren’t necessarily enough to bring a gigantic lizard to its senses. And anyone who thinks things will calm down after that clearly doesn’t know Godzilla very well yet.
After all, the list of his enemies reads like the guest list for a major Marvel event: The Hulk and General Ross’s Anti-Kaiju Task Force face off against the Monster King, while the giant spider Kumonga also joins the fray. Spider-Man, in his black “Secret Wars” alien costume, has to face off against the colossal behemoth; the X-Men of the ’90s get to put their powers to the test; and even Thor must prove whether divine power is enough against a walking natural-disaster simulator. When the New Avengers, Jet Jaguar, and Fin Fang Foom finally join the fray, chaos reigns supreme. Who needs the end of the world when you can unleash several gigantic monsters on each other at once?
