In the second year of the Enka era, a scientist develops the so-called “Myther.” With this device, people can design their ideal personality and try to leave behind all the traits they perceive as weaknesses in their former selves.
But the dream of the perfect self has a dark flip side.
The illegal use of the Myther is leading to increasingly frequent and severe personality breakdowns. The consequences are brutal crimes that soon come to be known by their own name: “Myther-Crime.”
This is where Kyou comes in. As an agent of a special intelligence bureau directly subordinate to the Japanese authorities, he works covertly to combat these crimes. His loyalty to the authorities seems unshakable—but in a world where even one’s own personality can be altered, perhaps the question of trust is no longer quite so simple.
The first of a total of four volumes kicks off a dark sci-fi thriller about identity, manipulation, and the desire to become a better person.
