The Witcher Dice Set: Crones - Whispess
In Crookback Bog, where the twisted branches of the trees were shrouded in poisonous fumes rising from a dangerous swamp, three ladies of the forest ruled over everything and everyone with their dark magic. Of the three hideous sisters, Whispess was the eldest—at least, so claimed the whispered legends of the swamp dwellers. Whispered, because if they spoke too loudly, the Crone would hear it—and demand tribute in the form of human ears, which she hung from trees and through which, with the help of primeval magic, she heard everything that happened in the swamp.
Inspired by The Witcher series, we’ve designed 7 multi-sided dice and a metal coin that bring to life the macabre aura of Whispess’s terrifying magic. Each die features pink engravings accompanied by eerie runes on a shimmering red background; the highest-value sides and the reverse of the coin bear the ghostly images of the seal of the ominous Crones. The obverse of the coin depicts the grotesque faces of the three sisters.
The Witcher is more than just a profession or a single character. The Witcher is an entire universe brought to life by the stories of Andrzej Sapkowski, where decisions and motives are never simply black and white. Colorful, full of unique charm, rich in unusual phenomena, and described with linguistic artistry, it later became the basis for video games, comics, tabletop role-playing games, as well as movies and TV series. If you’re familiar with The Witcher from any of these sources, you know just how captivating this universe is. For us—people who grew up with the stories from the world of The Witcher—it’s an honor to design dice based on these famous and beloved characters. We took the time to carefully consider all the possibilities for the designs and color schemes—and the result is now evident in the final product. These dice were born out of passion, and we’re proud that the person who receives them will appreciate them just as much as we do… That person is you…
