Welcome, dear students, to your exam in the subject of “Crystallization”! There are 80 gates at your disposal through which you can travel along the Via Magica, our magical network of paths. To open these gates, you must capture Animi and seal their energy into crystals. The Animi are small but very powerful creatures, and some are harder to catch than others. Once you have crystallized all the necessary Animi, say the spell “Incantatum!” to pass through the gates and collect the magical ingredients: toad slime, unicorn hair, and troll snot. At the end of this exam, the best among you will be named a Little Magician.
Via Magica is inspired by bingo or lotto and is a reimagining of Augustus, which was nominated for Spiel des Jahres in 2013. But instead of marking off numbers to fill rows on a grid, players crystallize the Animi to open the magical gates.
